Dream Seth’s touch tingled her scalp when his fingers ran through her hair; his beautiful laugh lured her relaxing thoughts to home and London; and his turquoise eyes sparkled with a warmth that seeped into her very core. All of which dulled the pain she felt thundering inside her head. She had to admit she loved these dreams. She knew it wasn’t real—that this was only an effect of his healing power—but with Dream Seth’s presence absorbing into her, she didn’t care. She could lie here in the shining white light every night in bliss. No nightmares. No blood on her hands. No worries about Set or her destiny. Just pure, intoxicating bliss.

A flicker of a shadow crossed the corner of Natti’s eye, causing her body to tense. She sat up on the invisible, cloud-soft bed, scanning the light surrounding her and Dream Seth. Nothing. Yet her heart was being crushed under a massive weight, and she sensed someone, or something, was intruding in on her dream, stalking her and Seth.

Dream Seth’s hand brushed her arm, making her practically jump out of her skin. “What’s wrong?”

Natti turned to stare at him. “There’s something out there.”

Dream Seth chuckled and pulled her back into his arms. “There’s no one else here. It’s just you and me. Now relax.”

Though still uncomfortable, she did as she was told and sank back beside him. Dream Seth stroked her hair for a few more minutes while Natti’s mind and eyes wandered. She could sense something dark close to her. But with Dream Seth’s touch to distract her mind, it slowly faded from existence and she eased back into a calm state.

“That’s it,” he whispered in her ear. “Everything will be all right.”

Hearing him say the familiar line caused her muscles to relax and she snuggled closer. Taking his opportunity, Dream Seth pressed up against her body, rolling her onto her back. The action confused her. A dark, heavy weight crushing her heart.

“Seth?”

“Yes, Natara,” he breathed on her lips. She listened to his soft chuckle echo around them while they floated in the surreal glow of her dreams. Seth’s charming smile was devilish. His fingertips traveled her bare flesh, sending a frosty chill into her abdomen that made her cringe. Natti stared into his turquoise eyes. They weren’t warm and comforting like before. Instead, they were colder than ice. Like hell just froze over.

“Who—?”

“Kha-t, Natara,” he spoke. “Just calm yourself.”

Though her mind wanted to obey his words, her heart knew better. In all the dreams she ever had, she couldn’t remember Seth ever engaging in conversation. In fact, the words he typically spoke would usually seem more like the echoes of a memory—one she had somehow forgotten. This dream, however, just wasn’t right.

“Who are you?” Natti still felt weak while she attempted to push away, only to hit an invisible barrier. “How did you get here?”

“Natara Stone”—her head spun from the force of power invoked by her name—“it’s me. Seth. Now, just relax.”

There wasn’t a trace of lie in his words, which caused her heart to lower its defenses.
